#Positively Stressed - Week 11

Ever had #Stress from the sheer size or volume of a task? Take building a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier – some tasks are too large for our brains to handle alone.

This is where we use this amazing invention called writing!

Why write it all down? As Admiral Rickover once said, “Nothing so sharpens the thought process as writing down one’s thoughts. Weaknesses overlooked in oral discussion become painfully obvious on the written page.”

By breaking a large task into its smaller components, then those pieces can then be broken down even further until they are in manageable steps. This process not only allows you to organize your thoughts, but also clarifies what can – or should – be accomplished within a given timeframe. This is how you build a ship – step by step, piece by piece. 🚢

If you’re balancing family, work, and social responsibilities, even a simple checklist can keep you focused, present, and help prioritize your well-being throughout the day.

BONUS: That rewarding feeling when you get to check an item off the list – those small wins can keep you motivated and moving forward. As Admiral McRaven once said, “If you want to conquer the world – start by making your bed. You will have accomplished the first task of the day.”
